SurfAid International would like to extend a massive thanks to Will Tant and his sponsors Jedidiah, Anarchy Eyewear, Cobian, and Wave Riding Vehicles for their participation in this years installment of Wave of Compassion. Over the last year Will has been involved with numerous events on behalf of SurfAid and we're stoked he was able to join us on this very special trip as an ambassador for SurfAid and our goofyfoot prodigy.

Before Will Tant became what he is now, a personal story unfolded that separated him from every other surfer in the business. An impressive start to a career in surfing started at a young age, riding next to Sunny Garcia as teammates Will put in his dues charging Hawaii relentlessly. A master of his craft naturally the goofyfooter became one of the leading prospects out of Florida. Within the time his dreams were becoming realized however, he made the decision to step out of surfing and pursue an education in New York City. It wasn't until a few years ago that Will was ready for a comeback after completing his education. Well rounded, well travelled you would think he never stepped out of the game when watching him surf. The difference now; he's in it for all the right reasons.

A year in the life of Will is filled with exotic locations and moves that inspire photographers. Its no wonder all the major surf publications have been drooling over him. As Aaron Chang once said, "he's my favorite surfer, not just to shoot but to watch." Will might be one of the most underrated guys in the business. He's one of the hardest working faces in the lineup and it shows when you watch him lay into a turn for the first time, he's absolute magic. Quiet but well spoken, he carries a smile thats infectious; after all these years Sunny still holds him in the highest regard.

Beyond his surfing lies the most important aspect of Will. While most pros use their career as a catalyst to further their wave count and better their public image Will has a completely different motive. Relief work is not strange ground when speaking of Will.
Whether he's in Sri Lanka on tsunami relief or Nicaragua building homes for the needy Will has used his time as a professional surfer to help others who aren't as fortunate as we. His direction is always aimed at the bigger picture and knows that every trip he takes means another opportunity to reach out to someone else. Its no surprise to find him aboard Wave of Compassion, theres no other person that could bring the same enthusiasm to helping the people of Indonesia like Will can.
