Wave of Compassion is a dynamic event benefiting Surf Aid International The mission of SurfAid International, a non-profit humanitarian aid organization, is to improve the health of people living in isolated regions connected to us through surfing. SurfAid's core values are as follows:

• SurfAid seeks the alleviation of suffering through health projects that enhance local capacities and promote community-based, self-help solutions, guided by the aspirations of its beneficiaries.

> The Wave of Compassion Story….
Wave of Compassion has been made possible through a combination of passion, talents, typical surfing friendships and a desire to give back. The event is the brainchild of Anthony Marcotti, an ex fifth grade teacher and co-founder of Saraina Koat Mentawai/Kandui Resort who also works for Martin Daly and his Indies Trader Marine Adventures operation. Anthony worked with Steve Barilotti, Jordan and Aii Heuer, Un, Gary Sirota, Justin Wallace, Andrew Griffiths to develop this unique idea as a fundraising initiative to support the people of the Mentawai Islands.

Anthony, Steve, Jordan, Aii, Un, Gary, Justin, and Andrew, all stakeholders in the Mentawai, have been inspired to want to support Surf Aid's initiatives in the Mentawai Islands and have over many months donated their time, talent, money, ad space and energy to make this event possible.

Five years ago, physician and surfer Dr. Dave Jenkins embarked on a surf charter to the Mentawai Islands with one goal in mind: to find perfect waves. The surf proved to be everything he had hoped for. What he also found, though, were the Mentawai people ---mostly women and children-–-suffering and dying from the ravages of malaria and other preventable diseases. Troubled by the inequity of lifestyles and moved by compassion, Dr. Jenkins went on to establish SurfAid International, a non-profit organization dedicated to the alleviation of human suffering through community-based health programs. With the support of volunteers, the Australian and New Zealand governments, the international surfing community, and most importantly the Mentawai people themselves, SurfAid has come to exemplify the healing power of cross-cultural partnerships.

Together with an impassioned, motivated, and talented team of volunteers, staff, and supporters, the SurfAid journey has begun.

Who We Are
We pride ourselves in setting the world standard for boat based surfing. Indies Trader III is the largest, safest, most seaworthy and most comfortable Surf Vessel in existence. Adventure Komodo, our latest addition, is the most modern.  Indies Trader II is still by far the best of the rest and Indies Trader was the first (1983) and original Surf Charter boat in Java and Sumatra and the most famous Surf Exploration Vessel on the planet.

In association with our Indonesian Partner Company, P.T. Surfindo, we strive to provide the Ultimate surfing experience. We have lived and operated in Indonesia for over 30 years.

Our Skippers ; Martin Daly , Albert Taylor, Tony (Doris) Elthrington, and Mike Crook, apart from being well-qualified  and experienced seaman, are all passionate Surfers. We have unsurpassed knowledge (Martin found almost all of the breaks) and experience as to the surf and conditions which means we consistently out perform all others in the quantity and quality of uncrowded surf we have delivered and continue to deliver to our loyal customers. (90% repeat, some have been every year for 10 years)

Our Surf Charter vessels have:

• A qualified and Experienced Chef. We use the freshest and best ingredients available, imported meats and dairy products, bake our own bread, make our own yoghurt and Ice cream and generally go all out to provide the best healthiest food we can.
• State of the art communications facilities. Telephone, Facsimile and Email. Marine stabilized antennas on our Satcoms that receive calls etc 24hrs a day, not portable units that are only good for outgoing calls.
• Registration as Commercial Vessels, not pleasure yachts
• Comprehensive loss and liability insurance as passenger carrying commercial craft 
• Annual surveys and full ocean going safety equipment to Solas International Standards
• Twin Diesel Engines
• Primary and Back Up Generators and many redundant systems to ensure that a simple mechanical failure will not end the surf trip.
• Individual Air Conditioned cabins, not communal bunk rooms.
• Plentiful hot and cold water for showering, tap water is potable . Primary and back up Desalinisation units
